This favors its usage in pharmaceutics, in the manufacturing of drugs. Beta- cyclodextrin and its methyl derivative is used to remove cholesterol from cultured cells. Many common chiral stationary phases used in high-performance liquid chromatography columns consists of beta-cyclodextrin.
