Cobalt(II) chloride, anhydrous, 99.7%

Code: C 0633

(For eg. B 1615-0108)

Cobalt(II) chloride is an inorganic compound of cobalt and chlorine, with the formula CoCl2. It is usually supplied as the hexahydrate CoCl2•6H2O, which is one of the most commonly used cobalt compounds in the lab.

C 0633 (OTTO) Cobalt(II) chloride, anhydrous, 99.7% Cas 7646-79-9 - used in humidity indicator in weather instruments. In the anhydrous form, it finds use in electroplating of cobalt, in organic chemistry and is a precursor to cobaltocene, (bis(cyclopentadienyl)cobalt(II), which is a good reducing agent. It also serves as a Lewis acid.
