Description

Acetaldehyde (systematic name ethanal) is an organic chemical compound with the formula CH3CHO, sometimes abbreviated by chemists as MeCHO (Me = methyl).

Application

A 6073 (OTTOKEMI) Acetaldehyde, 5 M in THF Cas no 75-07-0 - used as a precursor to acetic acid. This application has declined because acetic acid is produced more efficiently from methanol by the Monsanto and Cativa processes.
