Description

Sodium nitroprusside is an inorganic compound with the formula Na2[Fe(CN)5NO], usually encountered as the dihydrate, Na2[Fe(CN)5NO]·2H2O.This red-colored sodium salt dissolves in water ethanol to give solutions containing the free complex dianion [Fe(CN)5NO]2−

Application

S 2185 (OTTO) Sodium nitroprusside, 98% Cas 13755-38-9 - used as a reference compound for the calibration of Mossbauer spectrometer. It is also used for chromatographic detection of peptides containing cystine. It finds application as a color reagent in the development of thin layer chromatography in combination with acetaldehyde. S 2185 (OTTO) Sodium nitroprusside, 98% Cas 13755-38-9 - used in presence of buffers.
