Calcium oxide - commonly known as quicklime or burnt lime, is a widely used chemical compound. It is a white, caustic, alkaline, crystalline solid at room temperature.
C 1465 (OTTO) Calcium oxide, powder, 90% - used to restore the pH of acidic soils (liming). It is useful as a basic catalyst and an acid scavenger in several organic transformations, for example, in Arndt-Eistert synthesis of alpha-diazoketones, synthesis of heterocycles and oximes.
