Its characteristics arise from its chemical features as well as from its overall structural similarity to chemical compounds involved in primary metabolism and neurophysiology. D 1977 (OTTO) 2-Dimethylaminoethanol, puriss, 99%+ Cas 108-01-0 - used as a chemical intermediate for antihistamines and local anesthetics; as a catalyst for curing epoxy resins and polyurethanes; and as a pH control agent for boiler water treatment.
Dimethylaminoethanol and dimethylethanolamine (DMAE and DMEA respectively), with deanol, are common names for 2-(dimethylamino)ethanol.
